Point clouds at the speed of light

LineScan is the tool of choice when capturing the entire surface of forms using point clouds is important – whether for a comparison with available nominal CAD data sets or for the creation of a new CAD model.
LineScan is extremely fast: up to 250,000 points per second can be captured for high-speed digitizing. The short measuring times lead to a considerable increase in productivity. CALYPSO measuring software and the automatic sensor change on machines featuring mass technology also contribute to the high productivity of this sensor. The accuracy also increases thanks to the definable point grids and consolidation possibilities for intelligent point reduction.

The LineScan package includes a scanner, cables, software and extensive databases for sensor orientation, illumination and scanning settings, and workpiece coordinate systems.

The LineScan optical sensor is the tool of choice, particularly for car bodies, mold/tool making, model construction and design, as well as for touch-sensitive or finely structured surfaces.

Carl Zeiss Acquires Wolf & Beck

OBERKOCHEN/Germany – October 1, 2007.
Carl Zeiss Industrielle Messtechnik GmbH has completely acquired Wangen, Germany-based Dr. Wolf & Beck GmbH.

With this move, Carl Zeiss Industrielle Messtechnik GmbH is systematically pursuing its growth strategy. This primarily includes an enhanced commitment towards optical measuring technology and multi-sensor applications. “The know-how of Wolf & Beck in the manufacture, integration and application of optical measuring technology ideally supplements the Carl Zeiss Industrial Metrology product portfolio. By completing acquiring the company, we are ensuring our leading product and integration know-how in optical sensors. This also enables us to establish another pillar for sustained development in this area of industrial quality assurance,” emphasizes Dr. Rainer Ohnheiser, President and CEO of Carl Zeiss Industrielle Messtechnik GmbH.

Rolf Beck, President of Wolf & Beck, is sure that "the interface to basic optical research in the Carl Zeiss Group will continue contributing to the creation of clear developmental steps in optoelectronic measuring technology. O-INSPECT, a jointly developed, pioneering instrument is currently being introduced to the market. Almost six months after its launch, numerous orders have already been received. The sales network and global presence of Carl Zeiss Industrial Metrology guarantees market penetration around the world.”

Wolf & Beck offers customized solutions in the field of image analysis, and laser package solutions for coordinate measuring machines for optical scanning. The range of products is supplemented by various optical sensors and data capture software, as well as the integration of sensors in special systems. Focus is placed on solutions that require interdisciplinary know-how from the fields of optics, precision engineering, electronics, micro-processor technology and software. This includes optical 1D, 2D, and 3D sensors for the recognition of form and color, preparation of measured data and the corresponding mechanical components. The range of tasks includes consultation on problem analysis to the production of complete systems.
Dr. Wolf & Beck GmbH in Wangen, Germany, focuses on the development, production, integration and application of non-contact optoelectronic sensors for coordinate measuring machines. This also includes data capture, and data processing and integration software for optical measuring technology.
